Nursing Care: Specified Skilled Worker from Nepal
For Nepali-speaking learners in Nepal, this page keeps the JLPT facts local and honest — the real test sittings near you, the real pass marks, and the real corridor rules.
The language requirement
The SSW (i) route requires passing the JFT-Basic or holding JLPT N4 or above. JLPT N5 alone does not satisfy it. Nursing Care additionally requires the separate Nursing Care Japanese Language Evaluation Test.
Nepal is one of the countries with a signed Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with Japan — a government-to-government framework with a streamlined sending system and worker-protection rules. That is a priority corridor, not a restriction: SSW is open to eligible nationals of many more countries too.
Honest framing
- •JLPT N4 is a requirement for the SSW work route, not a job offer and not a visa guarantee.
- •SSW also requires passing the industry skills test for your field and having a Japanese employer.
- •A test result is not a visa and not a nationality — it is one honest step you can prepare for.
From April 2027 the Employment for Skill Development (ESD) Program replaces the Technical Intern Training Program, and the JLPT-N4-level requirement becomes standardised across the route — the language bar is becoming universal, not optional.
